The Pulse Magazine honor “DJ’s Of The Year” (PRESS RELEASE)
In 2009, Pulse Magazine had their inaugural “DJ of the year” award conceived and awarded by the writers of Pulse, in order to showcase the top musical prophets within the city of Tampa. Through the years, the concept has evolved to become an unprecedented and prestigious local award for those who earn the noble title.
The Pulse Magazine honor, DJ’s Of The Year, were created to recognize and celebrate the talents of the top local DJ’s within their specific categories. The fundamental philosophy of the DJ honors is not that of a competition, for we are dealing with an art form whose merits are purely subjective; therefore, there is no best. Rather the title focuses on the celebration of the music scene in itself, and seeks to let the world recognize that the art of DJ’ing is a respected craft with world-wide impact.
The various categories celebrate musical talents and productions, which often are groundbreaking on the dance floors in majority of the clubs in the Bay area. All of the nominees in these categories are recommended by a panel of professionals who represent a wide cross-section of the music industry; media, DJ agencies, producers, promoters, and of course, the readers themselves. This panel selects the nominees annually and, upon their announcement, our readers then ultimately votes for the final winners. These
winners are then presented with their award at a grand ceremony held at a prominent and distinguished entertainment venue in Tampa. The most celebrated DJ’s in Tampa have earned these titles: Pedro M, DJ Christion, Tony Puccio, DJ Ekin, and Barry Carrew.
